Clariant included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index

Muttenz, September 12, 2013 - Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, was included today in the European Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI Europe). In taking this step the analysts of RobecoSAM have confirmed that when it comes to sustainability, Clariant is among the leading companies in the chemical industry. In order to be listed in the DJSI, the company had to record an outstanding and sustainable performance in the economic, environmental and social dimension.

Clariant Certifies Cellulosic Ethanol Plant under European Directives

Muttenz, September 3, 2013 - Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, has received the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) for its sunliquid® demonstration plant in Straubing (Germany), which was opened in July 2012. The certificate confirms that the cellulosic ethanol from agricultural residues produced with the sunliquid® technology is compliant with the sustainability criteria set out in the European Renewable Energy Directive (RED).

Songwon Industrial Group announces stable gross profit development for first half of 2013

SONGWON Key Developments

Sales and gross profit margin remain stable despite challenging market conditions
Gross profit for the first half year increases 2.4% to 65,570 Mil. KRW compared to the same period in 2012. The adjusted gross profit encompassing capacity variances is significantly higher than in prior half year (+9.5%)
Net profit for the first half of 2013 at 8,240 Mil. KRW reflects the solid gross profit performance offset by a range of factors, including increased investments in the expansion of the Group and in performance improvement measures leading to higher SG&A expenses, unfavorable FX impacts as well as higher tax expenses due to expected increasing profits in Korea.
