SABIC and Airborne International join forces in the development of fully automated and digitized composites production processes
Amsterdam, the Netherlands, May 3, 2017 - SABIC, via its corporate venturing arm, has invested growth capital in composites specialist Airborne International B.V. (“Airborne”) in The Hague. With this investment, SABIC joins a growth financing round by existing shareholders including Pangaea Ventures Fund III, L.P., HPE PRO Institutional Fund B.V., Participatiemaatschappii Innovation Quarter B.V. and Innovatiefonds Brabant B.V.. The financing round will contribute to Airborne’s full automation and digitization of composite manufacturing of goods that require less weight and higher strength from an array of industries.

Henkel partnership with Benteler-SGL pays off with composite leaf springs on more Volvo models
Düsseldorf, Germany – Volvo is adopting high performance, lightweight composite transverse leaf springs for more models following their successful introduction several months ago on its premium crossover SUV, the XC90. Volvo is now also using the innovative concept on its new S90 luxury sedan and V90 station wagon models.
Lelystad, The Netherlands, March 13, 2017 - SABIC is expanding its UDMAX™ range of continuous fiber thermoplastic composites with the addition of carbon fiber-reinforced tapes, which will be on display at its stand at the JEC in Paris, March 14-16th. The new materials are UDMAX GPE (glass fiber-reinforced polyethylene) and UDMAX CPA (carbon fiber-reinforced polyamide).
