Syensqo’s Ixef® PARA resin selected to manufacture Artiphon’s intuitive Chorda instrument
Syensqo has announced that Nashville-based Artiphon company has chosen Ixef® polyarylamide (PARA) resin for molding the housing and keypad of Chorda, a novel electronic musical instrument. The unique capacitive sensor board of the device required a material capable of matching the tactile nature of the keypad, while also providing the long-term durability and aesthetics expected from a high-quality hand-held instrument.

SABIC’s versatile ULTEM™ resins, on display at AIX 2024, support recycling and sustainability goals
SABIC, a global leader in the chemical industry, is highlighting its broad and diverse portfolio of ULTEM™ materials at the 2024 Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX). ULTEM resin, a polyetherimide (PEI), is adaptable to a wide range of formats, including foam, sheet, fiber, powder, and composite and honeycomb structures. Due to their versatility and desirable attributes, these resins offer the industry a smooth transition path from traditional thermosets to lighter, more environmentally cautious and more easily processed thermoplastics. At its exhibit (Stand #6C51B), the company is displaying aircraft applications that benefit from a variety of ULTEM materials, including interior parts, seating, lighting, structural elements, electrical components and composites.
Syensqo is launching AeroPaste® 1003, a new grade of its epoxy-based structural paste adhesives which already includes AeroPaste® 1006 and 1100. This aerospace adhesive will not only increase part assembly efficiency but also offers great processing flexibility, making it ideal for targeted high production rates in markets such as Advanced Air Mobility, Commercial Aerospace and Defense.
Syensqo, formerly part of Solvay Group, has announced the extension of its Ajedium™ Films offering for slot liners in electric motors to a range of polyphenylene sulfone (PPSU) based products developed to replace conventional paper slot liners in motors up to 400V.
Syensqo’s Kallo-Beveren production facility in Belgium has successfully achieved carbon neutrality by running exclusively on renewable energy. The facility produces Syensqo’s Ryton® polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) specialty polymer compounds.
Syensqo’s Ixef® polyaryl amide (PARA) resin is used by Drake Plastics for molding the innovative Kohola FlowTech 1 Single Fin that enhances the flow control and efficient forward motion of surfboards to deliver longer and faster rides. The patented design of Kohola’s unique fins mimics the flippers of humpback whales. The efficiency of the injection molding process helped to achieve a manufacturing waste reduction of up to 30% compared to conventional fins produced with other techniques.
