Mondi leads industry response with sustainable packaging solutions
Mondi, the global packaging and paper Group, is leading the industry’s response to public demand for sustainable packaging solutions. At this week’s FachPack trade fair in Nuremberg, Mondi’s BarrierPack Recyclable will receive the 2018 German Packaging Award for the ‘sustainability’ category. This fully-recyclable packaging laminate has already won the 2018 Plastics Recycling Europe Award for ‘Best Technology Innovation in Plastics Recycling’. Mondi sees increasing demand from customers everywhere for packaging solutions that are sustainable, reusable or recyclable.

TE Connectivity to show model of rLoop pod for high-speed Hyperloop transport system at InnoTrans
TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensors, will showcase a model of the rLoop pod designed for the futuristic Hyperloop high-speed transport system conceived by Elon Musk at InnoTrans Sept. 18-21 in Berlin.
Mondi, the global packaging and paper group, will highlight BarrierPack Recyclable, its fully recyclable plastic laminate for pre-made pouches and FFS roll stock, along with other innovative products targeting the ice cream, pet food, and food and beverages categories at the upcoming FachPack trade fair in Germany.

A world premiere in the Netherlands: the first PlasticRoad bike path was recently opened in Zwolle, Overijssel. Inventors of the PlasticRoad, Anne Koudstaal and Simon Jorritsma – together with Member of the Provincial Executive of Overijssel, Bert Boerman and Alderman William Dogger of the municipality of Zwolle, cycled the first bike path made from recycled plastic. The concept was presented three years ago by road construction company KWS (a Royal VolkerWessels company). Wavin and Total joined forces with KWS in 2016 to develop the concept into a product. A second PlasticRoad bike path pilot in Giethoorn, near the pilot location in Zwolle, will be opened in November.
In 2014 Werner & Mertz decided to develop packaging that is recyclable in the fullest sense. This was before most fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies viewed a commitment to sustainability as an indispensable building block for brand equity. Several packaging suppliers told them it could not be realised. Then they met Mondi.
