Borealis reduces waste with new transparent, thin wall packaging solution
Borealis has launched a new solution for transparent, thin wall packaging which meets the demands for improved product visibility, lighter weight but stronger packaging, better stackability and integrated features for convenience and tamper-proof solutions. The RJ470MO solution offers the well-established properties of polypropylene (PP) random copolymers, such as stiffness, impact performance and low density and a new route to greater productivity. The solution delivers clear benefits to retailers and consumers in packaging for dairy, confectionary and convenience food as well as for electronics and cosmetics.

Avery Dennison Roll Materials Europe were joint developers of the leading-edge facefilm, which represents an overt tamper-evident device with new brand protection functionality, and is offered within the Fasson Specialty portfolio.
Combining easy processing with a unique spectrum of mechanical properties, Borealis’ new Borstar® FB4370 grade offers new and improved packaging solutions to polyethylene (PE) converters. Borstar FB4370 is the only PE film grade that balances mechanical properties such as high stiffness, toughness, easy opening and downgauging, with outstanding extrusion properties for higher production and packaging speeds.
Borealis introduced Borpact™ SG930MO, a clarified polypropylene (PP), to satisfy shoppers’ growing demand for transparent packaging that is deep freeze resistant. Two years of development and trials resulted in Borpact SG930MO, a significant expansion of packaging materials for producers of deep freeze products, such as ice cream.

Borealis was recently awarded the ISO/TS 16949:2002 technical specification for two key production facilities serving the automotive business. Following audits conducted by Det Norske Veritas during April 2005 the certification was awarded to Schwechat, Austria and Beringen, Belgium, providing Borealis automotive customers with the continuing assurance of polypropylene (PP) and PP compound material quality specific to the criteria set by the industry.
