BOPLA’S BOCARD ENCLOSURE COVER OFFERS CLARITY AND STRENGTH THANKS TO DSM XANTAR® PC
BOPLA Gehäuse Systeme GmbH (Bünde, Germany) has chosen Xantar® polycarbonate from DSM Engineering Plastics for the available clear covers of its family of Bocard plastic electronics enclosures. The clear panels of the covers are made of Xantar 22 R 01001 resin. The covers meet IEC 529 IP65 specifications, sealing out dust and minimizing ingress of low-pressure water, thanks in part to the resin’s excellent dimensional stability. In addition, the long-term clarity of Xantar allows visual monitoring of equipment housed in the Bocard enclosure, while the resin’s impact resistance helps prevent breakage and incursion by objects. Xantar meets UL-94 V2 @ 1,5 mm ratings, and the 22 R 01001 grade provides good flow and excellent mould release for ease of production.
DSM, the largest manufacturer of high performance polyethylene (HPPE) fiber in the world, today announces its decision to make another investment in a new production line for Dyneema® fiber in Greenville, North Carolina (USA). It is the third announcement this year of new Dyneema® fiber production lines at DSM’s Greenville site, following earlier decisions to build two additional fiber lines and one Dyneema® UD (UniDirectional bullet resistant sheet) line.
There is a growing trend to use dilution technology as a cost effective route for technically demanding injection moulded applications. This technology reduces the quantity of compounded material used by diluting a concentrated long, glass fibre compound (“concentrate”) with reactor polypropylene (PP) at the injection moulding stage. This project uses the world’s largest semi-submersible production platform operated by BP in the Gulf of Mexico. These materials are available through Borouge, the distributor and marketer of Borealis’ speciality polyolefins in the Middle East and Asia Pacific.
The increasingly higher operating frequency of 3G mobile phone antenna cables places ever greater demands on the performance of insulation materials. To meet this challenge Borealis has launched a new combination of Borcell™ products that provides good insulation together with lower signal attenuation than has been possible with previous cellular materials. This range is available through Borouge, the distributor and marketer of Borealis’ speciality polyolefins in the Middle East and Asia Pacific.
