The Netherlands, 3 December 2014 - The European Patent Office has upheld a key patent held by DSM Dyneema covering its recently introduced Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology. This radical innovation platform delivers game-changing materials for soft body armor and hard materials for helmets, vest inserts and vehicle armor. Armor made with Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology is 30 percent lighter than current armor whilst providing the same level of ballistic protection.
19 Nov 2014
The Netherlands, 19 November 2014 - Cooperation between three companies developing innovative solutions for deepwater installation has led to the introduction of a new system capable of handling heavy loads at depths of well over three kilometers.
11 Sept 2014
The Netherlands, 11 September 2014 - DSM Dyneema, owner of the Dyneema® brand, succeeded in its action against a third party application for a Chyneema trademark. Following two years of procedures, the official trademark authorities in South Korea, Canada, EU and the USA have all accepted DSM Dyneema's opposition and rejected the application.
30 Jun 2014
Ghent, Belgium - SiVance, LLC, a subsidiary of Milliken & Company, today unveiled SiVance® C1008 Curative, a new silicone curative that significantly improves the durable flexibility of epoxy polysiloxane protective topcoats in marine and infrastructure applications, without sacrificing weatherability. The development of this new curative technology solves a major challenge common to epoxy polysiloxanes: brittleness and cracking that can develop over time as the coating cures.
16 Jun 2014
Paris, 16 June 2014 - Here at Eurosatory 2014, DSM Dyneema, the manufacturer of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMwPE) fiber, branded as Dyneema®, and a world leader in life protection materials and high-performance fibers, is showcasing innovative vehicle armor solutions based on its industry-leading Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology. Aerospace and naval armor solutions from TenCate Advanced Armour and Rheinmetall Ballistic Protection GmbH, respectively, leverage this radical breakthrough in protection to address three major trends for light tactical interdiction vehicles: new operating environments, increasing weight from electronics and extended fuel supply chains. Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology platform delivers exceptional ballistic performance and the lightest weight and lowest profile for enhanced protection. To formally present this breakthrough to customers, DSM Dyneema will host a champagne toast at its booth (#6J373), on Tuesday, June 17 at 14:30.
11 Jun 2014
Stanley, N.C. - 11 June 2014 - Emerging global trends are impacting the operating environment of light tactical interdiction vehicles for military, law enforcement and homeland security operations, particularly helicopters and patrol boats. As they engage in higher-risk scenarios, such as supporting clandestine operations and penetrating inner harbors and coastlines, these vehicles require enhanced armor protection that won't compromise their speed, agility, range and payload capacity. Simply adding armor made from traditional materials such as ceramics, glass, aramid and even polyethylene is no longer enough, whereas innovative, lightweight materials that can deliver top protection can optimize vehicle performance, fuel efficiency, capacity and maneuverability. DSM Dyneema, the manufacturer of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMwPE) fiber, branded as Dyneema®, and a world leader in life protection materials and high-performance fibers, sees next-generation materials technologies as an important part of the solution. This view is supported by industry experts who predict the use of UHMwPE materials in armor applications will show double-digit growth in the next five years.
