BERGEN OP ZOOM, THE NETHERLANDS — February 23, 2006 — ESTECH presents a new surgical device that features GE’s new hemocompatible1 Lexan* HPM 1914 polycarbonate (PC) resin. ESTECH, a California-based maker of cardiac surgery devices, selected the GE material for the paddle of its new single-use ClearView MV™ Atrial Depressor to help achieve a high level of device reliability and biocompatibility2 in minimally invasive mitral valve repair and replacement procedures. For ESTECH and other device manufacturers, GE’s Lexan HPM resins offer the typical strength of PC as well as new capabilities that provide improved hemocompatibility1, reduced protein binding, improved low temperature ductility, and the potential for improved flow and release.

Borouge will be putting its high performance polyolefin business on show at Chinaplas, Asia’s largest international exhibition for the plastics & rubber Industries, in Shanghai from 26 to 29 April 2006. Located in Hall W3, Booth C03 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Pudong, Borouge will showcase how the high performance polyethylene (PE) produced by its plant in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi, UAE can be applied in three distinct sectors: packaging, pipes and wire & cable.

Urmond (NL), January 31 – DSM Dyneema, the inventor and manufacturer of Dyneema®, the world’s strongest fiber, today announced its Dyneema® Purity operations have been certified under the international ISO 13485:2003 standard. Dyneema® Purity, an ultra-high-molecularweight polyethylene fiber that is, weight for weight, 15 times stronger than steel, is used in high-performance medical applications such as orthopedic surgery sutures. Supplementing the ISO 9001 standard, ISO 13485 provides certification of a quality management system dedicated to medical devices.

Urmond (NL), January 16 – DSM Dyneema, the inventor and manufacturer of Dyneema®, the world’s strongest fiber, has filed a patent-infringement lawsuit against Hangzhou Pivot International Co. Ltd., of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China, before the Court of Paris, France. Prior to the filing, DSM Dyneema obtained authorization to seize merchandise, including fiber, rope and finished articles, exhibited by Hangzhou Pivot at the Milipol 2005 exhibition on state security in Paris.
