ELIX Polymers presents its 2020 Sustainability Report with a renewed approach
ELIX Polymers has published its 2020 Sustainability Report. This document presents a novel approach compared to previous versions, as it introduces ELIX’s 2030 Sustainability Strategy in order to progress to the full integration into its activity of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and contribute to ensuring their fulfilment. The 2020 Sustainability Report has been prepared in accordance with the core option of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, the main international framework of reference for preparing documents of this type.

Mondi and Unilever serve up aluminium-free paper-based packaging for Colman’s Meal Makers
Unilever, together with Mondi, a global leader in packaging and paper, have developed a new high barrier paper-based packaging material for Unilever’s Colman’s dry Meal Maker and Sauces range by reducing plastic, increasing paper content, and consequently ensuring recyclability in the existing UK paper waste stream.
To meet sustainability targets and fulfill commitments to the plastics circular economy, producers of plastic articles are increasingly using polymers that are compostable. Clariant’s business unit Pigments is contributing to this growth in compostable plastic articles, with a range of certified OK compost INDUSTRIAL pigments, offering customers new coloring opportunities.
TotalEnergies and Jindal Films have joined forces to produce more sustainable flexible food packaging and labels. Using advanced recycling technology from Plastic Energy, TotalEnergies will supply Jindal Films with Certified Circular Polypropylene produced from post-consumer plastic waste*. This new value-chain collaboration will divert plastic waste currently destined for incineration and landfill because it is too complex to recycle through existing schemes. 
In view of the current tightening of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission ambitions in Europe, it is with great pride that DSM and Fibrant announce the accomplishment of a major reduction in the GHG emission of Caprolactam and thus subsequently also of PA6 as produced in Europe by July 2021. The GHG emission saved is estimated to be around 800 million kg CO2 on annual basis. This significant reduction has been achieved by implementing several technology improvements amongst which an advanced N2O abatement program in Fibrant’s Caprolactam production process.
