Borouge awards US$300 million Olefins Conversion Unit contract for Borouge 2 expansion project
Borouge, a leading provider of innovative, value creating plastics solutions, today awarded a contract worth approximately US$300 million for the construction of a new olefins conversion unit (OCU) to Samsung Engineering for Borouge 2, the major expansion project at the company’s production facilities in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

GUANGZHOU, CHINA – May 21, 2007 – GLS Corp., a global leader in the development, manufacture, and supply of high-performance, custom-formulated thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs), announced here at Chinaplas 2007 that its plant in Suzhou Industrial Park, Suzhou, China, has achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification in less than one year. The facility, which opened in June 2006, is already running three shifts and producing more than 40 grades of standard and custom TPEs for global and local customers.

The material, a thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) compound, has been specifically tailored to meet BMW’s exacting specifications for the new BMW X5 regarding improved production cost, safety, high quality aesthetics and environmental performance. The resulting TPO fender is the most complex and highly integrated, class A body application to be seen in production to date.
Rising crude values and expanded domestic capacity could restrain China’s volume of polymer imports this year. This was the message from a senior China customs official speaking at the 3rd ICIS Asian Polymer Conference in Shanghai this month. Zhang Bingzheng, Deputy Director of the Statistical Department of General Administration of China Customs, told over 100 high-level delegates that the rising price of imported crude in 2006 had made polymer imports more expensive. In 2006, the average import price of crude in China was $457.4/tonne, which was a rise of 21.6% on an annual basis. This was exacerbated by the fact that last year the domestic capacity of polymers expanded and replaced some imports, he added. 
WUXI, CHINA April 20, 2007-- Genencor announced today that its new production facility, located in the Wuxi New High-Tech Industrial Park, has commenced operations. More than 300 guests attended a grand opening ceremony at the site that included company officials, key customers from China and Europe, Wuxi government representatives and members of the media.
