Following a dramatic reduction in water consumption at its engineering plastics site in Pune, India, announced earlier this year, the site will now meet 25% of its energy needs with renewable energy.

Muttenz, November 22, 2013 - Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, is supporting the use of Green Chemistry to create safer, fire retarded polyurethane (PU) foams for the upholstery sector. Research by Green Urethanes Ltd, the provider of green solutions to the global PU industry, confirms that manufacturers can use reactive halogen-free flame retardant Exolit® OP 560 with this technology to develop low emission flexible foams that meet internationally accepted flammability standards such as Cal TB 117 (California Technical Bulletin 117, a flammability test for upholstered furniture using a small flame).

The first worldwide anti-adhesive hygiene treatment for textiles uses mechanisms from medical engineering to inhibit odor-causing bacteria.

DSM Dyneema, the manufacturer of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMwPE) fiber, branded as Dyneema®, and world leader in life protection materials and high performance fibers, today officially introduced Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology, built on its Radical Innovation platform, the company's newest product development program. Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology combines breakthroughs in polymer science, next-generation fiber technology and unique uni-directional engineering to deliver up to 25 percent higher ballistic protection while reducing weight by up to 20 percent. Here at Milipol 2013, the company is showcasing the first products for soft and hard ballistic protection applications featuring this new technology. All are manufactured at the DSM Dyneema facility in Greenville, N.C.
