Urmond (NL), June 12, 2006 - For protection of military and civilian vehicles against today’s toughest threats – including improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and assault rifles – DSM Dyneema announces the introduction of a new hard ballistic composite. Unsurpassed protection for ships, aircraft and land vehicles, including multi-hit capabilities, flame retardance and heat resistance, can be obtained by using Dyneema® HB26. Further, the new material is exceptionally lightweight – it cuts handling time in half and speeds up production. Dyneema® HB26 will be commercially available in June 2006.

The new grade, Bormed TD109CF, is a polypropylene (PP) sealing material that combines processing advantages with high transparency, purity, excellent sealing behaviour and sterilisability. End uses which can benefit from the performance advantages include pouches, form- fill-seal (FFS) film, the sealable layer for lids for the packaging of medical devices, and lid films for blister packaging. With this new grade, Borealis’ range of solutions for the medical film industry becomes uniquely broad.

At a ceremony held in Birmingham on 10th May 2006, the company was presented with a Silver Award, for its overall health and safety management systems, and a Bronze Award, for its comprehensive car driver safety programme. The RoSPA Silver and Bronze Awards recognise and celebrate the achievement of a very high standard of health and safety at work over three and two years respectively.

When leading UK producer of cleats for sailboats Clamcleats Ltd. was preparing to take the next step in product innovation, the company approached its long-term polymer supplier and technical service partner Distrupol for engineering support.
