New European managing director at Distrupol
Effective 1st October 2006, Paul Henderson (51) is the new European Managing Director at Distrupol. In this role he will be responsible for driving the continued growth and development of Distrupol as a leading European polymer distributor, technical service and solutions provider in new and established markets. He will be based at the company’s European headquarters in Chertsey, England.

NEW NON-TOXIC ANTIFOULING FOR AQUACULTURE NETS USING DYNEEMA® FIBERS FIND FIRST COMMERCIAL ADOPTION
DSM Dyneema announces the first commercial success of its collaboration with the Dutch company Micanti. DSM Dyneema and Micanti are engaged in the development of strong and tough aquaculture nets with a new, revolutionary non-toxic antifouling treatment. Pinar Deniz, part of Yasar Holdings and one of the largest fish farms in Turkey and Europe, signed a contract in September for the deployment of the netting system at its farms. The combination of the new developed non-toxic Thorn-D® antifouling, from Micanti, with durable Dyneema® fibers, provides long-term, non-toxic resistance to fouling and thus avoids most environmental and fish-health issues. The benefit for the fish farmer is reduced maintenance and lifecycle costs for fouling prevention as well as healthier and larger sized fish.
BOSTON, Mass., Oct. 16, 2006 – DSM, a Netherlands-based company active worldwide in performance materials, announced today it is introducing its newest and strongest ballistic material for soft body armor. The new Dyneema® SB61 offers ultra-high energy absorption to provide significantly increased stopping power, as well as the same high level of trauma reduction and aging behavior as other Dyneema® soft ballistic products. The announcement was made at the 2006 International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) conference in Boston.

Kaller Kunststoff Technik GmbH (KKT), a specialist in the production of plastic bottles for the food, beverage, cosmetic and paint industry, has selected a biaxially oriented polypropylene (PP) grade from Borealis to manufacture injection stretch blow moulded (ISBM) bottles for water-based paint. The choice of this material gives KKT a competitive edge in this specialised market traditionally dominated by extrusion blow moulded high density polyethylene (HDPE)-based bottles. Lower production costs, improved aesthetics and better impact resistance are among the advantages provided by Borealis’ PP ISBM grade RF926MO.
