URMOND (NL), 2 July, 2008 – DSM Dyneema and Badinotti Group, the global leader in netting for commercial fishing, today announced an expanded collaboration to develop and deliver enhanced netting technologies using Dyneema®, the world’s strongest fiber™. The two companies aim to provide new netting solutions that can meet the challenges of today’s industries and end users. One area of focus will be reducing fish escapes in South America’s fish farming industry. Ultra-strong Dyneema® fiber, which has been used successfully in a variety of net applications, offers a higher strength-to-weight ratio, lower maintenance, and longer service life than conventional synthetics.

URMOND (NL) – 16 June 2008 – At this year’s Eurosatory, the International Land, Airland, Homeland Defence Exhibition in Paris, 16 - 20 June 2008, DSM Dyneema announced its new technology platform that will extend the material choice for vehicle protection of the future. This follows DSM’s recent announcement of a 450 million USD investment in its Dyneema® business. This new technology platform is currently under evaluation for key vehicle protection programs before becoming commercially available. Products derived from it will allow armor designers and decision makers to balance the requirements for better performing vehicles, increased payloads, and room for future weight growth. In addition, they will address the need for better protection against the most dangerous and emerging threats today.

URMOND (NL), 18 June 2008 - DSM Dyneema and the university hospital Maastricht (azM), The Netherlands, today announced a joint agreement to conduct research into new solutions that can improve surgical outcomes for patients with spinal deformities. Combining the materials technology of DSM Dyneema with the clinical expertise of the university, this project aims to develop new solutions that support the trend toward minimally invasive procedures as well as the need for preservation of mobility. The project team will focus on leveraging Dyneema Purity®, an Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene fiber offering maximum strength and minimum weight, to enhance post-operative mobility and quality of life for surgery patients as a result. Furthermore, the high strength-to-weight ratio of Dyneema Purity® enables device miniaturization to support minimally invasive surgical techniques that promote faster recuperation and reduced scarring.

The new pallet and cargo net system delivers an unmatched combination of durability, low maintenance, very low weight and mass for easier handling, expanded freight capacity, the ability to fly longer and at higher altitudes, environmentally conscious design, and better fuel economy. Thanks to the exceptional strength-to-weight ratio provided by Dyneema® High Performance PolyEthylene (HPPE) fiber, the new Capewell pallet and net system is the lightest in the world.

URMOND (NL), May 22, 2008 - The United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas concluded a judgment for patent and trademark infringement and related claims against Armor USA, on April 22, 2008. The judgment relates to DSM’s super strong polyethylene fiber Dyneema®. With this judgment DSM was able to stop Armor USA from selling infringing products comprising polyethylene fiber on the US market Armor USA is a Texas based company with manufacturing operations in China. DSM is a global life sciences and material sciences company with its headquarter based in the Netherlands.
