Avery Dennison and Dow launch breakthrough hotmelt label adhesive to enhance packaging recycling
Dow (NYSE: DOW) and Avery Dennison have co-developed an innovative and sustainable new hotmelt label adhesive solution that enables polyolefin filmic labels and polypropylene or polyethylene (PP/PE) packaging to be mechanically recycled together in one stream. The adhesive is the first of its kind on the label market and is approved by Recyclass for recycling in the HDPE colored stream - Class B.

DSM Engineering Materials today announces the launch of its first collaboration with New Zealand-based direct-to-consumer furniture brand noho: Lightly™ stackable chairs. The new plant- and recycled-based product is the first chair to be manufactured from DSM Engineering Materials’ EcoPaXX® biobased polyamide, which is derived from the castor bean plant. This renewable resource is highly CO2 absorbent while it is growing, giving EcoPaXX® a lower carbon footprint compared to fossil-based alternatives. DSM Engineering Materials today announces its partnership with sustainability-focused startup DiFOLD, developing foldable reusable products. The startup has chosen DSM Engineering Materials’ Arnitel® Eco – a bio-based thermoplastic copolyester – to manufacture its flagship Origami foldable water bottle. Adopting Arnitel® ECO marks a major step forward in DiFOLD’s mission to reduce the environmental impact of packaging waste.

Its long-term sustainability ambition is to become Finite Material Neutral, which involves water and waste, along with raw materials, energy and catalysts. In 2021 the company set its first 2030 targets, for greenhouse gas emissions (using approved science-based targets) and (eco) toxic impact. Now Perstorp has added new sustainability targets that will address its long-term ambition.
