DSM further expands US production capacity for Dyneema®, the world’s strongest fiber
DSM, the largest manufacturer of high performance polyethylene (HPPE) fiber in the world, today announces its decision to make another investment in a new production line for Dyneema® fiber in Greenville, North Carolina (USA). It is the third announcement this year of new Dyneema® fiber production lines at DSM’s Greenville site, following earlier decisions to build two additional fiber lines and one Dyneema® UD (UniDirectional bullet resistant sheet) line.

GE arricchisce il Global Application Technology Center con nuove macchine per lo stampaggio e la termoformatura di pezzi di grandi dimensioni
BERGEN OP ZOOM, OLANDA — 13 dicembre 2005 — In occasione dell’Open House, GE - Plastics ha annunciato che il Global Application Technology Center si arricchirà con macchine modernissime destinate allo sviluppo di nuovi materiali per pezzi di grandi dimensioni, come i pannelli di carrozzeria e le superfici vetrate delle automobili. L’acquisto, da parte di GE, di una modernissima pressa Krauss-Maffei 2700 MX per stampaggio a iniezione-compressione permetterà all’azienda di rispondere alle necessità dei clienti mettendo a punto materiali più leggeri e in grado di offrire una maggiore flessibilità di design per la realizzazione di grandi manufatti. La KM2700 va ad aggiungersi alle capacità tecnologiche e ai servizi, che spaziano dalla progettazione alla trasformazione e all’analisi, offerti da GE attraverso i sei centri di eccellenza del Global Application Technology Center. Oltre alla pressa Krauss-Maffei, GE intende installare a Bergen op Zoom all’inizio del 2006 una nuova termoformatrice a doppia lastra.

Per l’acquisizione delle sue attività di compounding e rinforzi in fibra di vetro, compresa una vetreria situata un’ora a Nord di Tokyo. I termini dell’operazione non sono stati resi noti.
