Borealis invests in meltblown innovation
Borealis, a leading provider of innovative, value creating plastics solutions, is investing in a polyolefin meltblown expertise facility to increase non-woven innovation. The investment includes the installation of an in-house pilot line alongside other laboratory equipment. It is the first time that a polyolefin supplier has installed an in-house meltblown pilot line which will be located in Borealis’ international Innovation Centre in Linz, Austria.

La nuova lastra Lexan* SG305-OB di GE combina uniformità di illuminazione e luminosità ottica superiore per insegne di grande effetto
BERGEN OP ZOOM, PAESI BASSI — 23 febbraio 2007 — GE Plastics ha introdotto una nuova qualità di lastre in policarbonato (PC) Lexan* specificatamente concepite per esaltare la visibilità e l'effetto delle insegne luminose. A differenza delle lastre convenzionali la Lexan SG305-OB offre una diffusione della luce uniforme, in grado di ovviare all'effetto "puntinato" dei diodi luminosi (LED) e alla visibilità di qualsiasi fonte luminosa, insieme ad un'elevata capacità di trasmissione della luce, per una brillantezza ottica eccezionale con costi energetici più bassi. Gli spessori di 2mm e 5mm dei fogli Lexan SG305-OB infatti esaltano la trasmissione della luce portandola a quasi al 50%, a differenza dei materiali come il polimetilmetacrilato (PMMA), che offre soltanto il 25% circa. La nuova qualità di lastra bianca, che presenta una superficie satinata sul lato esterno per ridurre i riflessi, offre anche un'eccellente protezione dagli UV insieme alla rinomata resistenza agli impatti della robusta, quasi infrangibile, resina Lexan.

PUMP-ROLLERS FROM QUADRANT CMS FOR COST-EFFECTIVE, HIGH VOLUME PRODUCTION
TIELT, BELGIUM – February 22th, 2007 – Development work by Quadrant CMS (Creative Moulding & Systems), in close cooperation with Micropump Inc., has enabled the injection-moulding of pumps-rollers for a high volume application using Ertalyte TX PET-P. These parts were originally machined from extruded bar stock of the same material by Quadrant CMS’ sister company Quadrant EPP (Engineering Plastic Products), a specialist in this field. The change to a more cost-effective processing method for the pump-rollers, the production levels of which increased rapidly over the last few years, was welcomed by Micropump Inc.
