Clariant expands as its C6 chemistry Nuva® N increasingly gets the textile industry's approval

Singapore, 19 September 2012 - As one of the leading companies in the production of fabric repellency treatments, Clariant has increased its capacity to produce next-generation fluorochemicals at its plant in Gendorf, Germany. With an investment of 8 million euros supporting C6 chemistries, the plant will support new lines of Nuva® products and expand options for customers who are increasingly making the switch from traditional C8 products.

SABIC’s World-Renowned LEXAN™ PC Resin & Customer Support Helps Fonckel B.V. Take Unique LED Luminaire from Design to Reality

MUNICH, Germany, September 19, 2012 - When Fonckel B.V., a start-up company based in the Netherlands, needed expert assistance to turn the stunning design of its Fonckel One lamp – an interactive light emitting diode (LED) luminaire – into a commercial product, SABIC’s Innovative Plastics business was there to deliver its world-class customer support. With its robust portfolio of advanced thermoplastics for lighting applications, its Color Innovation Centre offering more than 18,000 color and diffusion effect options, and its application development expertise, SABIC assisted Fonckel with tapping the proven performance and versatility of LEXAN™ FXD polycarbonate (PC) resin for use on the lamp’s diffuser cover. On display here at the Strategies in Light Show at SABIC booth #B8, this unique luminaire, the name which means “sparkle” in Dutch, demonstrates SABIC’s ability to precisely meet the specialized needs of its customers by helping them translate their design vision into the right material application.

BERLINO, Germania, 18 settembre 2012 - In anticipo rispetto al'attuazione della norma paneuropea in materia di sicurezza antincendio per gli interni dei treni, l'unità Innovative Plastics di SABIC ha ampliato la sua gamma di soluzioni ad alte prestazioni aggiungendo due nuove lastre LEXAN™ al già solido portafoglio di materiali. Questi nuovi prodotti comprendono la lastra LEXAN H6500, un nuovo materiale a base di PC/acrilonitrile-butadiene-stirene (PC/ABS) che rispetta la futura norma armonizzata CEN/TS 45545, così come la lastra LEXAN H6200, un nuovo materiale conforme alla norma tedesca DIN. Entrambi i prodotti sono stati progettati per consentire ai clienti del settore ferroviario di soddisfare la crescente richiesta di maggiore sostenibilità e tecnologie termoplastiche avanzate caratterizzate da un ritardo di fiamma non contenenti composti organici clorurati e bromurati, in grado di migliorare la progettazione e lo sviluppo delle applicazioni per gli interni dei treni. SABIC Showcases Extensive Portfolio of Innovative Materials Technologies for the Lighting Industry at Strategies in Light Event

MUNICH, Germany, September 18, 2012 - SABIC’s Innovative Plastics business is displaying the vast scope, versatility and quality of its material technologies for lighting applications at its booth (#B8) at the Strategies in Light event here. The company is spotlighting key aspects of its portfolio – one of the broadest in the lighting industry – including the LEXAN™ LUX family of high-performance polycarbonate (PC) resins for light emitting diode (LED) lighting, and other specialty compounds for the lighting industry. A highlight of the exhibit is the interactive Fonckel One LED luminaire, whose diffuser cover is molded from specially tinted LEXAN FXD resin. The Fonckel One is just one example of lighting innovations whose design, aesthetics, performance and sustainability can be enhanced with SABIC materials.

Belden presents two new SPIDER variants from its Hirschmann brand

Neckartenzlingen, Germany – September 18, 2012 - Belden Inc., a global leader in signal transmission solutions for mission-critical applications has added two new unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet switches to the SPIDER family as part of its Hirschmann brand in the EMEA region. The SPIDER II Giga EEC Pro, available with either five twisted pair ports (10/100/1000 Mbit/s) or two additional SFP slots for fiber optic transceivers (1000 BASE-SX/LX), supports Quality of Service compliant with IEEE 802.1D. This allows prioritization of data packages and means that the switch can be used for PROFINET applications in the mechanical engineering sector for example. The SPIDER II Giga EEC Jumbo is also available in two different 5-port versions, with or without SFP slots. Because both versions can handle Jumbo Frames with up to 9014 bytes of user data, they are particularly suitable for video applications. All switch versions conform to relevant industry standards for shock and vibration resistance as well as electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and are built to comply with cUL508 safety requirements. Further features include 12/24V power supply, IP30 protection rating, fanless cooling, and an extended temperature range of -40 °C to +70 °C.
