Nieuwe preklinische studie onthult dat unieke combinatie van prebiotica uit cichorei met oligosacharide uit moedermelk (HMO) zorgt voor gezondere darmen bij peuters. 
(Foto: BENEO, PR034)Een nieuwe preklinische studie van Pudenz et al. toont aan dat uit cichorei onttrokken fructanen van het type inuline in combinatie met 2’-Fucosyllactose (2’-FL, een HMO of oligosacharide uit moedermelk) additieve en zelfs synergetische effecten hebben op de microbiota van peuters. Dit is een van de eerste onderzoeken waarin combinaties van prebiotica uit cichoreiwortel met 2’-FL werden getest, maar het bevestigt wel het nut van melkproducten met prebiotische mengsels die gezonde darmen bij kleine kindjes ondersteunen en op lange termijn mogelijk ook voordelen bieden voor de spijsvertering en het immuunsysteem.
