Biography Russell S. Johnson
President, Founder
China Array Plastics LLC

Russell Johnson founded China Array LLC in 1980. He has worked with China State Owned Enterprises (SOE), Township Village Enterprises (TVE), and private companies, implementing quality control procedures, improving manufacturing processes, and instituting accounting controls.

From a foundation based on precision machining and fabrication of stainless steel and injection molding of high-performance engineering thermoplastics, China Array has, under Johnson’s direction, developed an array of products that meet or exceed the highest international standards.

Johnson formed China Array Plastics in 2005. In 2006, the company opened its state-of-the-art injection molding facility in Wuhan, China. China Array Plastics is now widely recognized as one of first companies in China to specialize exclusively in custom molding high-performance thermoplastics. The company offers multinational OEMs operating in China tremendous advantages vs. importing parts, including higher quality parts, faster delivery, lower manufacturing costs, and highly trained U.S. and local expertise.

Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree and MBA from Harvard University. He has been an adviser to the Harvard Business School's Asian Research Center on manufacturing in China, lectures widely on Chinese business and economic development, and assists Western firms in sourcing and manufacturing. In recent years, his interests have broadened to include marketing and distribution within China.
