Innovation with sustainability:

DSM ENGINEERING PLASTICS OFFERS LIVING SOLUTIONS™

At K 2007, DSM Engineering Plastics is launching a wide range of new materials for existing and new markets. To highlight the company’s approach to sustainability, DSM Engineering Plastics will use the K as a platform to demonstrate its capabilities as a solutions provider, by introducing the concept of Living Solutions™.

Jos Goessens, President of DSM Engineering Plastics, says: “We are using the K to introduce a wide range of new materials for Automotive, E&E, Packaging and General Industries. These materials help our customers to gain significant production and user benefits, all directly linked to the DSM “triple P” policy which is based on respect for People, Planet, Profit.”

Sustainability is key – and the DSM product portfolio is able to deliver

  • reduced environmental impact through lower energy use, halogen free concepts for flame retardants and overall weight reduction;

  • greater design freedom for system cost optimization;

  • improved performance for better safety, greater comfort and longer shelf life;

  • cost reduction and performance improvements.

    Michael Koch, Business Unit Director DSM Engineering Plastics Europe, says: “We have outstanding material knowledge combined with industrial expertise. Now we are using the K-show to invite the industry to work with us towards finding Living Solutions™.

    Living Solutions™

    Taking its lead from DSM’s corporate sustainability policy, DSM Engineering Plastics’ K stand focuses on three key aspects: Innovation, Relationship and Positioning. Michael Koch: “We are using the K-show, the world’s premier plastics event, to showcase our new concept. It provides us with a unique opportunity to demonstrate how we put our words into actions. “The way we value customer relationships is underlined by the way visitors to the stand are welcomed and provided with tailor-made information. Our approach to innovation is highlighted by the many exciting and new applications we are showing in detail – and put into practice on the stand by demonstrations of “molecular cooking”. Our new Living Solutions™ concept shows that we do not settle for ordinary solutions. Instead, we strive to find Living Solutions™.”

    The concept

    Jan Sijstermans, DSM Engineering Plastics Marketing Communications Manager explains: “DSM Engineering Plastics’ constant search is illustrated by the three seeds of the Blue Salsify flower. They are part of nature and borne by the wind to new locations, where they may prosper. DSM Engineering Plastics sees this image as symbolic for the search for Living Solutions™. Each of the seeds stands for a key aspect of our approach. First there is vulnerability: seeds are vulnerable – as is the world around us. DSM Engineering Plastics embraces its responsibility to strive for Living Solutions™. Secondly we stand for creativity: Seeds are borne in all directions and we know that Living Solutions™ can be found only with a 360˚ open mind. And finally we have tenacity: just as seeds will find their way in a constant search for life, we have an endless drive and strong mindset to constantly search for Living Solutions™.”

    Michael Koch: “Living Solutions™ are found by working together in close cooperation. We trust our customers recognise the value of our message, so that together we can work towards developing even more Living Solutions™ in the future.”
