“ClearlyMedical” demonstrates plastic’s clear advantages: new website features medical device challenges and solutions
Eastman Chemical Company has launched ClearlyMedical.com, a website dedicated to plastic solutions for the medical device industry. The site, located at www.ClearlyMedical.com, features case studies to demonstrate plastic’s clarity, toughness, chemical resistance and safety when designed into medical devices.
The site contains real-world application stories where medical device companies have turned to Eastman’s Chemical Company for solutions. These include:
• Safety Syringes, Inc. took advantage of Eastman’s Eastar® DN003 copolyester’s strength and clarity in designing the inner components of its Ultra Safe® Passive™ Delivery System safety syringe.
• Harvest Technologies LLC chose Eastman’s Eastar MN100 copolyester for use as a mechanical component and container in its BloodStream Recovery System. The plastic was selected for its clarity, toughness, blood compatibility and environmental friendliness when incinerated.
“ClearlyMedical.com demonstrates the versatility that our plastics can bring to the project engineer, ranging from moulding complex shapes, to retaining clarity after sterilization and ultimately to environmentally-friendly disposal,” said Thijs Jaarsma, Eastman’s medical market development manager. “The site is another way which we are working with the medical industry to effectively meet its current and future application requirements”
