Rapid introduces new 300, 400 and 500 Series

‘Next generation’ granulators allow fast and easy cleaning, maintenance and inspection

Friedrichshafen - Rapid Granulators, from Bredaryd, Sweden, has introduced three new series of granulators that have been completely redesigned, inside and out. Named the 300, 400 and 500 Series, these ‘next generation’ granulators’ can be recognized by their all new silver and black colour scheme.

Far more important though are the improvements on the inside of the machines. Rapid’s new ‘open-hearted’ engineering concept, based on an ergonomic design for swift and direct access to the heart of the machine, significantly simplifies service, cleaning and maintenance. This not only has a great impact on labour costs, reducing machine downtime by up to 50%, but also allows for easy access to check if a machine is visibly clean, thus preventing potential cross contamination when changing materials and colours.

The three new machine series also include enhanced safety features. All are equipped with a motion sensor in the cutter house which ensures that the rotor is completely still before anyone can open the machine. A further improvement is that changing the cutter knives is now very easy. And since sharper knives result in better regrind, less dust, less energy consumption, less noise and higher output, regular and timely knife replacement is now both beneficial and simple.

Further the new Super Tangential (Super T) cutter house option is available on the 300, 400 and 500 Series. The Super T is especially designed for regrinding light weight injection and blow moulded components and containers, ensuring that these voluminous parts are gripped and cut by the machine, without bouncing on the rotor.

The new granulator series feature a completely modular design. This not only means that the machines can be adapted to fit customers’ requirements, it also allows for quick and easy replacement of the rotor, cutter house or the hopper if a customer changes his production later on.

“For a traditional engineering company like Rapid, changing from our long-established colour scheme was a big step,” says Bengt Rimark, Marketing Manager at Rapid. “We felt these new series involved such a dramatic engineering re-design and overall performance improvement that they truly represent the ‘next generation’ of granulators and warranted a new look.”
