Rhodia Engineering Plastics launches TECHNYL® XT a high productivity polyamide for extrusion

Lyon, October 20th, 2004 - Today, Rhodia Engineering Plastics – the polyamide specialist – announced the launching of TECHNYL® XT, a new range of modified polyamide 6, aimed at fulfilling the extrusion industry’s need for higher productivity and energy savings in polyamide transformation.

Thanks to its unique rheological behavior TECHNYL® XT – a high-productivity polyamide – boasts advantageous processing qualities without sacrificing material properties. Relative to standard polyamide 6, TECHNYL® XT presents equivalent mechanical, thermal and chemical properties.

TECHNYL® XT requires about 20°C lower processing temperatures than standard polyamide 6, bringing benefits in energy consumption that can be translated in shorter cooling cycles and higher productivity rates. At different customers, TECHNYL® XT has delivered excellent product consistency and up to 40% higher output.

The first launch of this new range is TECHNYL® C 502XT, a general purpose material developed in the framework of an integral solution for corrugated pipe applications. In this solution TECHNYL® C 502XT has been bundled with a proprietary and customized master batch formulation offering polymer, thermal stabilization and color in one package.

Established over 25 years ago, Adaptaflex (part of Cable Management Group) has built an enviable reputation for its flexible and pliable conduit systems for the protection of electrical cables. With over 5000 products in its extensive range, Adaptaflex has a product to suit every application, and Technyl® XT has proven an excellent alternative material for its non-metallic conduit range, increasing productivity without sacrificing properties.

“We are making an intensive evaluation on different applications and so far the productivity and properties of TECHNYL C502XT have been extremely encouraging” said Meirion Buck, Design and Applications Manager, Cable Management Group

Rhodia Engineering Plastics has been able with this solution to excel in customer satisfaction by delivering a material that is both efficient in processing and compliant with the mechanical and thermal requirements for such a demanding application.

Other classical extrusion applications where TECHNYL® XT has probed to bring benefits include rods, monofilament and filtering mesh.
