Borealis invests in meltblown innovation
Borealis, a leading provider of innovative, value creating plastics solutions, is investing in a polyolefin meltblown expertise facility to increase non-woven innovation. The investment includes the installation of an in-house pilot line alongside other laboratory equipment. It is the first time that a polyolefin supplier has installed an in-house meltblown pilot line which will be located in Borealis’ international Innovation Centre in Linz, Austria.

A nova chapa Lexan* SG305-OB da GE combina iluminação uniforme com brilho óptico superior para uma sinalização atraente
BERGEN OP ZOOM, HOLANDIA – 23 de fevereiro de 2007 – A GE Plastics lançou uma nova categoria de chapa de policarbonato (PC) Lexan* especificamente destinada a aumentar a visibilidade e a capacidade de chamar a atenção da sinalização com iluminação. A chapa Lexan SG305-OB, ao contrário dos produtos laminados convencionais, oferece difusão de luz uniforme para eliminar pequenos orifícios de LED (light emitting diode, diodo de emissão de luz) e uma exibição de fontes de luz, além de transmissão de luz superior para obtenção de brilho óptico excepcional à custos mais baixos de energia. Na verdade, as espessuras de 2 mm e 5 mm da chapa Lexan SG305-OB elevam a transmissão da luz em mais de 50% em relação aos materiais da concorrência, como o polimetil metacrilato (PMMA), que permitem apenas cerca de 25%. A nova categoria de chapa branca, com acabamento fosco na superfície externa para reduzir os reflexos, oferece também excelente proteção contra raios UV, além da conhecida resistência contra impactos da resina praticamente inquebrável Lexan.

PUMP-ROLLERS FROM QUADRANT CMS FOR COST-EFFECTIVE, HIGH VOLUME PRODUCTION
TIELT, BELGIUM – February 22th, 2007 – Development work by Quadrant CMS (Creative Moulding & Systems), in close cooperation with Micropump Inc., has enabled the injection-moulding of pumps-rollers for a high volume application using Ertalyte TX PET-P. These parts were originally machined from extruded bar stock of the same material by Quadrant CMS’ sister company Quadrant EPP (Engineering Plastic Products), a specialist in this field. The change to a more cost-effective processing method for the pump-rollers, the production levels of which increased rapidly over the last few years, was welcomed by Micropump Inc.
