I/O functionality for industrial Ethernet switches
Belden has extended its Hirschmann™ product range with a digital I/O media module for the MICE family Fast and Gigabit switches. Available with version 7.0 of the "Layer 2 Professional” software this module with four digital inputs and outputs enables MICE Switches to send signals and status messages via the network to be analyzed. An auxiliary output provides 24 VDC voltage with 3W power to control the connected components directly without an additional power source. Further features include IP20 protection class, high shock and vibration resistance and extensive immunity to electrostatic discharges and magnetic fields. The standard version is configured for a temperature range of 0° to +60° C. Two versions with an extended range of -40° to +70° C are also offered, which differ in that one of their PCBs have a conformal coating to protect them against condensation. The I/O Media Module can therefore also be used under extreme climactic ambient conditions.

16 PoE Plus ports and Gigabit speed
Belden has now introduced the new Gigabit Ethernet workgroup switch MACH104-16TX-PoEP from its Hirschmann™ product range. This switch has 16 TX ports (10/100/1000 BASE-TX) that support PoE and PoE Plus and four combo-ports (10/100/1000 BASE-TX or 100/1000 BASE-FX). There are also versions available with two 10-Gigabit XFP uplinks or redundant power supplies as well as a fanless variant with an external power supply unit. The new switch can also be integrated into Profinet and Ethernet/IP networks and offers a number of additional features including extensive management and redundancy facilities and various configuration and diagnostic functions. Its high level of resistance to vibration and shocks coupled with broad immunity to magnetic fields and electrostatic discharges contribute to the unit’s operational safety. Since the switch is geared for a temperature range of 0°C to +50°C, it can also be used inside switch cabinets without powerful cooling systems. Thanks to the wide range of available variants, the MACH104-16TX-PoEP can be used for versatile and therefore economic solutions to implement connections to terminal equipment such as IP cameras and VoIP phones on backbone automation networks.

Extrem kurze Entwicklungszeiten
Belden bietet unter den Marken Lumberg Automation™ und Hirschmann™ hochwertige Steckverbinder und Connectivity-Systeme an, die vorwiegend im Maschinen- und Anlagenbau eingesetzt werden. Das Produktportfolio umfasst Sensor- und Aktorsteckverbinder, konfektionierte Verbindungskabel sowie Verteilersysteme und E/A-Module für Feldbus- und Ethernet-Netzwerke. Neben Standard-Ausführungen werden ebenso kundenspezifische Lösungen angeboten. Diese Aktivitäten machen heute rund ein Drittel des Umsatzes aus. Bis 2014 soll dieser Anteil auf über 50 Prozent erhöht werden. Um dieses Ziel zu erreichen, kommt es neben dem technologischen Know-how vor allem auf Flexibilität und schnelle Reaktionszeiten an. Die dazu erforderlichen organisatorischen und produktionstechnischen Voraussetzungen sind mittlerweile geschaffen worden. So dauert etwa die Entwicklung eines neuen Verbindungskabels mit angespritzen Steckverbindern einschließlich Freigabe durch den Kunden im Schnitt nur noch sechs Wochen.

Beim Bau der Signalsicherheitsplattform für die Hochgeschwindigkeits-Personenverkehrsverbindung der Schnellzugstrecke Peking-Shanghai, der bekanntesten Strecke für den Hochgeschwindigkeitsverkehr in China, kamen über 1.200 Hochleistungs-Switches von Hirschmann™ zum Einsatz. Dank der umfassenden Erfahrung, die Belden bereits mit seinen Hirschmann™-Produkten bei Bahnanwendungen sammeln konnte, gewährleistet diese zuverlässige Lösung die Sicherheit der Kunden.

BELDEN ADDS THE OZD PROFI G12 ATEX 1 DEVICE TO ITS HIRSCHMANN™ RANGE OF PRODUCTS
Belden has now launched the Hirschmann™ OZD Profi G12 ATEX , Profibus FO repeaters certified for use in hazardous locations, zones 1, 2, 21 and 22. The optical ports are intrinsically safe and have got op-is approval. With a transfer rate of up to 12 Mbps, the repeater is available with a stainless steel or plastic housing. The optical function module, which has its own Ex approval, is also available without a housing. This enables it to be installed in the same housing as other components, so saving valuable space. The optical performance of the FO repeater can be continuously monitored using signal strength outputs which can be integrated in the process control system. As the Hirschmann™ OZD Profi G12 ATEX 1 repeaters also support ring redundancy, it is now possible to implement highly available Profibus networks using ring or line topologies in potentially explosive environments such as those found in the oil and gas sectors and in some areas of the food industry.

New certifications for WLAN devices for Belden’s range of Hirschmann™ products
Belden's WLAN access points and clients belonging to the Hirschmann™ BAT54-Rail and BAT300-Rail series of products now have both ATEX IEC/EN 60079 Zone II and ISA 12.12.01 Class 1 Div 2 certification. Equipped with suitable protective cases, they can be used anywhere in the world in potentially explosive environments such as oil, gas or mining industries. Mountable on top-hat rails, these devices are also flexible enough for a wide range of applications, such as installation in control cabinets or distribution boxes. What's more, in combination with BAT WLC controllers, they can be centrally configured and managed.

Integration of access points and clients in Profinet and Ethernet/IP networks
Belden has announced the release of HiLCOS 8.50, a new version of its established WLAN firmware from the Hirschmann™ product range. Like its predecessors, this firmware is fully compliant with the European 5 GHz standard (EN 301893 V1.5.1). New to this firmware version, however, is that it permits access points and clients to be integrated into Profinet and Ethernet/IP networks without requiring additional management software, thus allowing flexible administration. In the future, HiLCOS 8.50 firmware will be offered as a standard for all devices in the Hirschmann™ BAT54 and BAT300 series. In addition, the firmware will also be available as a free-of-charge download from "www.e-catalog.beldensolutions.com" enabling customers to update older access points and clients.
