Belden presents new OBR40 optical bypass relay from its Hirschmann Brand
Neckartenzlingen, Germany - June 25, 2013 - Belden Inc., a global leader in signal transmission solutions for mission-critical applications, has launched the new OBR40 optical bypass relay from its Hirschmann product range. Suitable for use even in harsh environmental conditions, this relay ensures that optical Ethernet networks, with either ring or line topologies, remain operational after power failures at one or more switches. An internal switch-over mechanism enables data communication to continue seamlessly between neighboring switches. This mechanism even continues to operate when power is cut off to the bypass relay itself. Use of this relay serves to further enhance the availability of Ethernet networks. The relay can also be used to deactivate specific parts of a system, when maintenance work needs to be carried out on individual turbines of a wind farm, for example.

Belden Presents New Hirschmann Brand Software Platform 8.0
Neckartenzlingen, Germany - June 4, 2013 - Belden Inc., a global leader in signal transmission solutions for mission-critical applications, has launched version 8.0 of the software platform from its Hirschmann product range. The new release significantly extends the functionality of managed switches from the MACH, MICE, Rail and OCTOPUS families. Depending on the switch family, new features include special tools such as an integrated IEC61850 server for seamless integration with data networks for power generation and distribution. A PTP power profile according to IEEE C37.238 also allows these networks to be accurately synchronized. Thanks to support for Jumbo frames, which ensure optimum utilization of user data, high-resolution video applications are also possible. Furthermore, in addition to extensions for PROFINET and Ethernet/IP, the release for all four switch families offers additional mechanisms for detecting overload situations, as well as improved diagnostic, documentation and encryption mechanisms. Like the previous version, the new software platform 8.0 supports extensive management, diagnostic and filter functions, as well as various redundancy methods, security mechanisms and real-time applications. As a result, it is particularly suited to applications in the energy industry, the oil and gas sector, and the automotive industry.

Belden Presents New Field-attachable Valve Connectors from its Hirschmann Product Range
Neckartenzlingen, Germany - March 26, 2013 - Belden Inc., a global leader in signal transmission solutions for mission-critical applications, has extended its Hirschmann product program to include new field-attachable valve connectors from the GDM series. These type B connectors guarantee both a dependable power supply and reliable data transmission, ensuring high productivity for systems and machines. They are available without circuitry or with more than 20 different electronic inserts that protect downstream circuitry against voltage surges or electromagnetic interference. Versions featuring built-in status indicators (with/without circuit protection) are also available. The valve connectors feature industrial protection class IP65/67 (optionally IP68) and can be used within a maximum temperature range of -55°C to +125°C. Other connector features include high shock and vibration resistance, and extensive resistance to chemicals and UV radiation. Easy-to-grip housings ensure that connectors can be rapidly assembled. Rounded edges make it difficult for dirt to accumulate and ensure that it can be easily removed.
