Since this support is available EMEA-wide, all communication is in English.

Belden introduces new WLAN firmware that extends the useful life of industrial wireless devices
Neckartenzlingen, Germany - October 29, 2013 - Belden Inc., a global leader in signal transmission solutions for mission-critical applications, has introduced Hirschmann HiLCOS 8.8, the latest version of its WLAN firmware to manage its highly successful range of OpenBAT industrial wireless devices. This version is an industry first as it supports IPv6, which is intended to replace IPv4. A key benefit is that the useful life of installed wireless devices can now be extended, as they will still be able to communicate via public WLAN networks for which IPv4 addresses are now no longer being allocated. Product Manager Pascal Unterdorfer explains: “The new HiLCOS 8.8 firmware opens up new possibilities for using WLAN in automation, for example, in power supply applications. These use public networks to control power distribution, making IPv6 routing an absolute must.”

Mit Hirschmann ins Berufsleben
Neckartenzlingen - 4. September 2013 - Bei der Hirschmann Automation and Control GmbH – eine Geschäftseinheit des BELDEN-Konzerns haben am 02.09.2013 dreizehn junge Leute eine Berufsausbildung und damit einen Start ins Berufsleben begonnen. Dabei werden sie in den klassischen Berufen wie Fachinformatiker, Elektroniker für Geräte und Systeme, Mechatroniker und Verfahrensmechaniker sowie auch in den Studiengängen der dualen Hochschule Baden-Württemberg für Angewandte Informatik, Maschinenbau Fachrichtung Kunststofftechnik, Elektrotechnik, Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen und BWL Fachrichtung Industrie ausgebildet. Insgesamt bildet das Unternehmen ca. 40 junge Leute am Standort Neckartenzlingen aus. An diesem Standort werden Netzwerkgeräte und Industriesteckverbinder der Marken Hirschmann und Lumberg Automation entwickelt und hergestellt.

Belden presents new OBR40 optical bypass relay from its Hirschmann Brand
Neckartenzlingen, Germany - June 25, 2013 - Belden Inc., a global leader in signal transmission solutions for mission-critical applications, has launched the new OBR40 optical bypass relay from its Hirschmann product range. Suitable for use even in harsh environmental conditions, this relay ensures that optical Ethernet networks, with either ring or line topologies, remain operational after power failures at one or more switches. An internal switch-over mechanism enables data communication to continue seamlessly between neighboring switches. This mechanism even continues to operate when power is cut off to the bypass relay itself. Use of this relay serves to further enhance the availability of Ethernet networks. The relay can also be used to deactivate specific parts of a system, when maintenance work needs to be carried out on individual turbines of a wind farm, for example.
