Eastman Strengthens Global Copolyester Manufacturing Structure
KINGSPORT, Tenn., March 30, 2004 – Eastman Chemical Company (NYSE:EMN) today announced further steps toward strengthening its global copolyester manufacturing capabilities. Following consultations with the union and the employees at its Hartlepool, England site, Eastman has decided to close that site and consolidate production to other facilities. Eastman said while it has ample capacity from multiple production lines at other sites to meet current customer needs, it is also preparing to meet future market growth by initiating plans to increase its copolyester manufacturing capacity at its headquarters site in Kingsport, Tenn.

Eastman’s “Glass Polymer™” Helps Parlux Make Waves
Parlux’s new Ocean Pacific cologne package is more than provocative. It’s an experience complete with simulated waves, thanks to Eastman Chemical Company’s Glass Polymer™ copolyester. A textured inner glass vessel, which holds the fragrance, is encapsulated within an outer Glass Polymer sleeve. Material enables phtalate-free product line extension
In an extension of its successful SurePath™ medical tubing line, Tekni-Plex’s Natvar Division discovered a phthalate-free alternative that provides the same manufacturability, performance criteria and aesthetic requirements as PVC. Their choice of Ecdel® TPE 9966 from Eastman Chemical Company was the perfect replacement for PVC. Natvar was able to create its new phthalate-free alternative with very little modifications to machinery or processes.
