Akcros Chemicals and PolyOne Formulators UK in new co-operation to speed-up product distribution
Akcros Chemicals and PolyOne Formulators UK Ltd., formerly Acrol, have announced a co-operation that will significantly reduce delivery times for Akcros PVC processing additives to UK customers, particularly in respect of small lot orders. As from January 1, 2002, small lot orders of Akcros stabilisers and other additives for PVC industry customers throughout the UK will be distributed by PolyOne Formulators’ established network.

NORCROSS, Ga. (January 23, 2001) – Xitec, Inc. (East Windsor, Conn.), a leader in low-power portable X-ray fluoroscopy systems for medical, industrial, security, and veterinary markets, wanted for years to get the lead out. The problematic heavy metal was a source of increasing concern for the company’s X-ray tube shield, a relatively thin-wall cylindrical that plays a major part in concentrating X-rays and shielding personnel from stray radiation. Xitec’s portable C-arm X-ray equipment is designed for a range of applications in the medical and veterinary markets, including viewing extremities in the emergency room, podiatry and hand surgery and is used in X-ray generators for airport security equipment.

POLYONE TO MARKET UV FILTER ADDITIVE FROM CIBA SPECIALTY CHEMICALS TO PROVIDE ENHANCED UV PROTECTION TO PET BOTTLE CONTENTS
CLEVELAND (Aug. 9, 2001) – PolyOne Corporation (NYSE: POL) announced today that the company has signed a licensing agreement with Ciba Specialty Chemicals (SWX: CIBN; NYSE: CSB). Under the terms of the agreement, PolyOne will market in North America Ciba® Shelfplus™ ultraviolet (UV) filter as an additive concentrate for polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle applications. PolyOne will supply the new Ciba UV filter as an UV additive concentrate for use in clear packages. Or the company will compound it into a custom color with its ComPETe-T® pelletized colorants or ComPETe-F® wax-based flake colorants for PET. The Shelfplus UV filter is available immediately through PolyOne.

Cleveland, Ohio- January 29, 2001 – PolyOne Corporation (NYSE: POL) announced today that it will close four plants in the United States, a move expected to result in a pre-tax earnings improvement of approximately $6 million annually. PolyOne expects a pre-tax earnings improvement of $4 million in 2001.
