SABIC Innovative Plastics’ LNP* X-Gen Starflam* Compounds Meet Today’s Eco Compliance Challenges with Tomorrow’s High-Tech Materials
Istanbul, Turkey – December 5, 2007 – SABIC Innovative Plastics today launched a new portfolio of high-tech LNP* Starflam* compounds that provide excellent flammability performance while meeting the requirements of halogen-free parts. The LNP X-Gen Starflam Z270 family of fiber-reinforced polyamides supports compliance with the European Union’s Waste Electrical and Electronics Equipment (WEEE), Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) regulations, and other environmental requirements. The new products offer high-end mechanical and electrical properties that exceed those of traditional materials that use brominated and red phosphorus additives, and provide easy processing, excellent surface appearance, and the ability to be laser marked for labeling purposes.

SABIC Innovative Plastics Targets Environmental Regulations Compliance with New FR Non-Chlorinated, Non-Brominated Valox* ENH Resins
Istanbul, Turkey – December 5, 2007 – SABIC Innovative Plastics today introduced a new family of flame-retardant Valox* thermoplastic polyester resins aimed at helping electrical/electronics (E/E) manufacturers and suppliers comply with regulations restricting use and disposal of hazardous substances. Further, Valox ENH resin - an environmentally progressive resin that meets the requirements for non brominated parts - is based on polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), delivering better ductility and strength than other environmentally responsible flame-retardant PBT materials, and better electrical properties than standard brominated flame-retardant PBT materials.

Istanbul, Turkey – December 5, 2007 – SABIC Innovative Plastics has launched a new line of thermoplastic materials with high specific gravity (HSG) that may replace lead in many healthcare applications that call for radiation shielding. Medical equipment and devices that produce x-rays and gamma rays must be shielded to protect operators, clinicians, patients, and sensitive electronic components from tube leakage and room scatter. SABIC Innovative Plastics’ LNP* Thermocomp* HSG radiation shielding, high-density compounds enable x-ray shielding solutions without the use of known toxic substances, while providing greater design freedom and higher-volume manufacturing with lower total part cost through the use of injection molding.

SABIC Innovative Plastics Exits Schwarzheide JV to Develop Newer High-Performance PBT Resins for Customers
BERGEN OP ZOOM, THE NETHERLANDS – Nov. 13, 2007 – SABIC Innovative Plastics today announced it has signed an agreement, subject to regulatory approvals, to divest itself of its share in a 12-year joint venture with BASF Aktiengesellschaft, which produces polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) resin in Schwarzheide, Germany. As part of this divestiture, SABIC Innovative Plastics will ensure continuity of supply for European customers through a contract to purchase PBT resin from BASF for a defined period of time. The transfer is expected by December 31st, 2007.

SABIC Innovative Plastics Ramps up Lexan* Sheet Capacity to Address Growing Customer, Market Demand
Düsseldorf, Germany – Oct. 24, 2007 – SABIC Innovative Plastics is investing significantly to expand production of its Lexan* polycarbonate multi-wall and solid sheet products for the construction and industrial markets across Europe, Middle East and Africa. The company will add production lines in three locations – Vienna, Milan, and Bergen op Zoom – to meet growing demand for Lexan structural glazing, roofing, signage and other applications in Eastern Europe, Russia, and other locations. The new production lines are slated for completion by Q3 2008. Products will include Lexan Thermoclick*, Thermoroof* and Thermopanel* specialty sheet systems, as well as Lexan Thermoclear* multi-wall and Lexan solid sheet products.

SABIC Innovative Plastics Advances Solar Panel Technology with New Energy Center of Excellence
