Nanogel® Aerogel from Cabot Corporation wins 100% Detail RIBA Innovation Award
Groundbreaking Nanogel® translucent aerogel insulation material has received the 2004 100% Detail RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) Journal Innovation Award. The award recognizes Cabot’s innovative technology for producing the translucent aerogel material that provides “the best translucent insulation for glazing in the world.” The RIBA Journal is the official magazine of the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Haasrode, Belgium, September 2nd , 2004 — Honeywell´s Enovate® 3000 blowing agent, a liquid hydrofluorocarbon used as a blowing agent for rigid insulating foams is now used by Steadman & Son Ltd. to manufacture foam insulation panels. Steadman, one of the longest established manufacturers of roofing and cladding systems in the UK, decided in favor of Enovate® 3000 because it fulfils the Montreal Protocol by not harming the ozone layer. In addition, the product is not flammable. This quality means that Enovate® easily meets the fire-resistant standards set by the U.K.’s Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB), a recognized independent quality certification board. Enovate® 3000 also provides superior insulation panel performance in comparison to competing products.
New product design and manufacturing company, ‘Bright’, will be helping to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the 100% Design Exhibition in the UK by erecting some of their new origami style, flat-pack, geodesic buildings’ made from Spectar® sheet inside Earls Court as key features at this year’s event. These ‘buildings’ are based on a revolutionary concept in semi-permanent spatial design. The product is designed by the team at ‘Bright’ which includes designer Nick Gant – who is perhaps better known as director of award winning design consultancy and regular 100% Design exhibitor, BoBo.
