McLEAN (VA), June 25, 2009 - DSM Dyneema today introduced Dyneema® HB80, a unidirectional (UD) composite that meets the joint US Army and Marine challenge to increase the fragmentation performance by at least 35 percent of advanced combat helmets. Dyneema® HB80 also has the potential to provide law enforcement SWAT units with helmets offering existing protection at half the current weight. It is the latest product in an expanding series of materials being developed by DSM Dyneema to substantially lighten the load for soldiers and law enforcement.

URMOND (NL), June 24, 2009 - DSM Dyneema today launched Dyneema® BT10, its first commercially available product made from a novel, proprietary ballistic tape (BT) technology. The announcement was made jointly at the DVD exhibition, (Millbrook, UK), with Ten Cate Advanced Armour, who has selected Dyneema® BT10 for armor upgrading on the Patria XA-188 APC commissioned by the Dutch DMO (Defensie Materieel Organisatie). The vehicles will be used by the Dutch military forces stationed in Afghanistan and delivery is expected to be completed by October 2009.

HOOFDDORP/URMOND (NL), 25 May, 2009 - Bluewater Energy Services B.V., a member of the Bluewater group of companies, has introduced a Composite Cryogenic Hose made with Dyneema® fiber which is the first truly flexible large bore hose for high volume offshore LNG transfer. This is the first cryogenic application in which Dyneema® fiber has been used.

April 6, 2009 – Global composite solutions and building materials leader Owens Corning (NYSE: OC) today announced the development of AdVeil™ non-woven glass veil incorporating a new technology that brings cost and production benefits to the cushion vinyl (CV) flooring industry. Based on the company’s patented Advantex® glass technology, AdVeil glass veil is supplied pre-filled with a proprietary inorganic formulation that reduces plastisol use up to 150 grams per square meter – a savings of up to 30 percent compared to conventional non woven glass veil offered in the marketplace. Battice, Belgium, April 2, 2009 – 3B, a leading manufacturer of fibreglass products for the reinforcement of thermoplastics and thermosets, today announced an innovative new chopped strand product aimed at helping OEMs, compounders and moulders expand the application of reinforced polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) compounds. 3B’s new DS 2200-13P chopped strand, made from Advantex® boron-free E-glass, is being launched in conjunction with the 2009 JEC Composites Show in Paris. The new product offers a unique combination of properties that enable reinforced PP and PE to replace metal and other reinforced thermoplastics in applications such as automotive components and appliances that demand exceptional mechanical and aging performance. DS 2200-13P chopped strand is available globally.
